Baby's First Words (CDs by Living Language available in Spanish, French, Italian, or Chinese)
When I was on maternity leave with my daughter, one of the first things I recall doing was visiting one of my local libraries and coming across these foreign language CD's for babies. As they were available in multiple languages I thought, why not check out more than 1 of them just for fun? Well since then I've become a bit obsessed with not only teaching Spanish when at home with my little ones, but using time to develop an ear for other languages as well. It makes inherent sense that for babies and toddlers, they can learn multiple languages seamlessly, as their brain is not hard-wired to the sounds of one language as it often becomes with monolingual adults. These CD's are available in Spanish, French, Italian, and Mandarin, and are just so enjoyable to listen to regardless of how old you are. They include both singing as well as excerpts of speaking naturally, and include the translations so it's easy to follow along. Listening to these regularly the language acquisition flows so much more naturally than it otherwise would with traditional school based methods.
