Today I came across yet another book by award-winning Cuban-American author Alma Flor Ada. It is a small paperback book of just under 150 pages of a variety of short introductory level Spanish language poems. There are a variety of themes relevant for children, ranging from going to school and family traditions to the importance of language and basics of poetry. This would be a great book for both introductory Spanish learners as well as more advanced, as some of the pieces are very short, yet every one is thought-provoking. It could be a great gift for a parent to read a little at a time with a small child at bedtime, or for the older child to introduce them to a love of poetry.
